An imaginary conversation with F.A.C. (Francisco A. Cabrero 1912-2005), former author of the original building in 1964, is used to explain the leading ideas for the competition proposal.
Today´s forgotten requirements, construction strictness,… austerity!
REHABILITATE (technical) boxes inside a larger box the old container to “show” will be now a container to play, look at, be looked and self looked, silhouettes, shadows, reflections and transparencies,... the closed and blind container will be opened again to the light, the park,the city,... the air,... |
||
RESTORE ethic essence: low cost - low maintenance,... constructive essence: steel, corrugated sheets, brick, glass, polycarbonate, air,... structural essence: exposed, lightweight, slender, no added overloads altering its balance,... composition essence: just a customized building skin,... |
||
PRESERVE spatial essence,... Rooms rehearsal program (as transparent acoustic containers) connected by service axis, stores and facilities wrapped by public rational opened areas. We´ll just climate offices, play and dressing rooms; all the rest just ventilated, isolated and protected from the sun and wind. "… austerity! ... or how you say today, ... sustainable?" |
